AgileCat was commissioned by the Philadelphia Police Department for a logo redesign – the first change to their logo in over 25 years. For law enforcement agencies such as the PPD, a logo serves as much more than just a symbol; it embodies the values and ethos of an entire community. AgileCat stepped up to the challenge, blending reverence for the past with a bold vision for the future.
We carefully re-interpreted all of the symbols and imagery in the many-varied versions of the existing logo emblem — reducing from too many (sometimes up to 13) colors down to a two-color (and single-color) sharply refined illustrated composition. Our premier goal was to preserve the essence of their recognizable badge, while infusing it with contemporary utility and timeless style. This visually clarified emblem, along with an updated typography system, gives the department full ownership over their identity — establishing brand consistency with a highly legible and easily reproducible logo mark.
